Please have a look at our latest photo>>> shot May 19 - 2017
Old Stavanger on the west side of Vågen comprises 173 wooden buildings from the turn of the 18th century. Most of them are small, white cottages. Stavanger has received several awards for its efforts to preserve Old Stavanger.
This was one of three pilot projects carried out in Norway during the United Nations' Architectural Heritage Year in 1975.
Old Stavanger is a popular living area and many galleries and handicrafts' boutiques are located in this part of the city. Here are also Norwegian Canning Museum and Stavanger Maritime Museum.
Welcome to Stavanger. The Stavanger region is Norway’s third largest conurbation with a population of about 400 000 inhabitants. The city itself has a population of 118 000.

Hiking the Jæren beaches from Vigdel to Bore
Jæren beaches from Vigdel to Bore beach. The beaches are a fantastic place to walk and take in the wide horizons and endless sea. Most of the beaches are sand beaches with sand dunes, although there are also a few pebbled beaches. Start at Vigdel beach, where there are good parking areas. Follow the beach and coastline south, past Sele harbour, to Bore Beach.
Surfing Jæren
Norway's best surf is found along the beaches of Jæren. This stretch of coastline invites you to explore the North Sea for wind and waves. The spots range from easy and gentle beginner beaches, to the more demanding and better boulder rock points, which doesn't work as often as the beaches.
Hiking to Kjerag
Kjerag - The Majesty of the Lysefjord, Forsand in Ryfylke.
At 1084 metres, Kjerag towers above the other peaks along the Lysefjord. It has been traditional to admire this mountain face from the fjord, but in recent years, it has become increasingly popular to walk up the path to the plateau. Most people are happy just to enjoy the view of the Lysefjord from the plateau itself, but for some hikers, the climax of the excursion is to be photographed on the Kjeragbolten, a round rock wedged solidly in a mountain crevice. Kjerag has also become a popular attraction for mountain climbers and base jumpers.
Hiking to the Pulpit Rock
The Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen), the most famous tourist attraction in Ryfylke, towers an impressive 604 metres over the Lysefjord.
